Roxas City, previously known as Capiz, is the provincial capital of Capiz province. On May 12, 1951, this place became a chartered city and was eventually named in honor of one of the presidents of the Philippines who is a native of the city, Manuel Acuna Roxas.Following Iloilo City, Roxas is also proven to be the second center of trade, education, and economic trade activities. Being situated near the bodies of water, alongside the abundance of marine life, they eventually established their name and became the “Seafood Capital of the Philippines.”
Roxas City is known for its tropical rainforest climate. Therefore, the best months to visit are between January to September where you’ll experience a warm temperature with little to no rainfall. Since most of the activities are outside, you’ll need a weather that will cooperate with your planned itinerary.

Roxas City is accessible by plane through its own city airport, the Roxas City Airport. It can be found in the city proper so you don’t have to worry about getting lost outside the city. This is also a convenient way to travel to Roxas City for it only takes 45 minutes to reach the airport from Metro Manila.
If you’re just coming from the nearby provinces, you don’t have to travel by air. There are various bus routes that can take you to Roxas City. From Kalibo, you have the option to take either the van or bus to Roxas City. It would only take you around 1.5 hours and the transportation fee is approximately Php 100. Just like in Kalibo, you may also opt to ride the Ceres Bus at a 3 to 4 hour travel time or Iloilo-Roxas vans with a 2-hour travel time. If you prefer comfort, the Ceres Bus is the better option due to its bigger legroom but the advantage of taking the van is its faster travel time. If you’re coming from Boracay, you have to take two stops to reach Roxas City. The first step is to either take the bus or van to Kalibo from the Caticlan Wharf. Once you’ve reached Kalibo, you now have to take another bus that will bring you to Roxas City. The combined travel time is 4 hours on average.
